Here in Texas, us girls are lucky if it’s actually appropriate enough weather to wear sweaters. I mean typically it does not get extremely chilly here until January, which is why sweater tanks are a must! And if you’re not a Texas girl, they are a great transitional and layering piece to take into the Fall months. P.S. if you actually get a Fall, myself & the rest of the Texas population are living vicariously through you.
I was on the hunt for an affordable sweater tank & came across this one from ASOS! Just so happened to be on major sale, & you know sale is my second language. 😉 I paired it with some boyfriend jeans + the best snakeskin mules for a great transitional outfit into the Fall months. You could also totally wear it under a denim jacket & white jeans when it gets chilly outside. Multiple uses means the best investment. Especially when it is only $15!
For reference, I am wearing an XS, which is my normal size in most things. There are few sizes left, so be sure to snag one sooner than later! I promise you will not regret it.
Are you a Texas girl?! If not, I would love to know where you live, so I can be jealous of you getting to wear Fall clothes & it be socially acceptable. LOL. Have a good rest of your week!
I love when Mother’s Day makes its appearance each year, because it’s such a special day honoring my favorite person! My mom has been my role model since I could walk & as the years have progressed, she has grown to be my best friend. People are right, there is no bond like a mother & daughter’s, & I only hope I have the relationship my mom & I have with my daughter one day [far down the road lol].
Some may call me crazy, but I operate like clock work with my mom every morning and call her at the exact same time on my way to work every.single.day. Some days we have nothing new to talk about, but others you would think it had been weeks since we spoke!
Like many of you, my mom has taught me numerous of things over my 24 years. However, some things stick out more than others. Such as, never judge a book by its cover. My mom preached this growing up, & I can vividly hear her telling my brother & I that you never know what anyone else is going through… so who are we to judge.
Hard work. My mom lives & breathes her job, so much so she has been at the same company 25 years. This also highlights her loyalty & dedication… two of her great attributes. She instilled in me that I would work for what I have, which is why I believe I have the work ethic I do. My mom made me get a job when I turned 16 [and I have had a job ever since], as she wanted me to pay for things like my gas & social activities with friends. Why I may have despised her at the time for this, looking back I know why she did what she did. I remember in high school my friends & I would go to the mall, and their parents would give them their credit cards to shop. The one time I tried asking my mom for hers, she laughed in my face. Thank you for that mom. This all said, I also came out of school with student loan debt, as my mom knew it would make me work harder for my degree. It resulted in me not taking my college years or degree for granted, as I am having to pay for that piece of paper every month. While it stinks to be in debt, I get her mindset behind it. Don’t get me wrong, she & a lot of other family helped financially in college, but yes I still have money I owe & I honestly I am thankful for that.
Sticks & stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me. There is no way I can count how many times my mom preached this at me. Being a girl can be tough, but my mom tried to instill that no words would ever bring me down.
The bigger the bow [or hair] the closer to God. Find any picture of me from when I was little & I can almost guarantee I am wearing a bow bigger than my head. Also, I am convinced my mom still think she is in the 80’s, as that lady can make her hair ultra big. Luckily, I’ve learned the same tricks. I love my hairspray as much as my momma 😉
Be a giver, not a taker. Mom is queen of making sure others are taken care of before herself. While some of us always want to strangle her for this, it’s what makes her, her.
I’ve said this one before, but to never leave this house without makeup… specifically mascara and lipstick. Chantil is right, you never know who you may run into when you’re out & about. I don’t typically always follow this rule of Chantil’s, but I have to agree that it’s good to always be presentable.
I could go on & write a novel about how great my mom is. Maybe one day? Any who, Happy Mother’s Day to my momma & all the other mommas out there. You are so loved!
By the time May rolls around in Texas we all know spring has seen its better days and summer is around the corner. If you’re a Texas girl you probably live for sun dresses, just like me! I mean truthfully there’s nothing better than being comfortable in a dress when you’re about to melt outside. Throw on some wedges, grab my denim jacket & I’m out the door!
This TopShop dress is right up my alley, as it’s flowy & lightweight. Oh & it’s under $50… so even better. And I love the lace detail, as it spices it up! And as you can see, you can easily pair a denim jacket with it, in case you are like me and are always freezing wherever you go [even when it’s 100 degrees outside]. This denim jacket has been through the ringer, as it has gone on every trip with me the past couple of years & makes frequent appearances at work. LOL!
I mean it’s easy to throw over a dress like this for work [if your work space is more casual] & is perfect for traveling on cold airplanes. Honestly, I found this cutie from Target a couple years ago for $30 & have not been able to find another like it.
If you don’t own a denim jacket, you most definitely should, because every girly needs one! To help you out, I rounded up all my faves below… & most are under $100. Thinking I may scoop one of these up, as I need another go-to in my closet.
Happy Thursday & happy shopping!
Monday we meet again! And oh hello- you & I meet again, too! 🙂 If you typically keep up with my blog, you have probably noticed my posts have been MIA the past couple weeks. So let me apologize first off! Second off, I plan on making up for that in the weeks to come. No matter how busy life may get I refuse to let my website and this platform slip away from me!
All that said, I hope life is dandy for you & that the warm weather has been inspiring you to shop for your closet 😉 I mean spring temperatures call for dresses, denim cutoffs and straw bags! You can’t ask for much more than that. I was on one of my weekly shopping trips at Nordstrom’s last week & came across this TopShop dress and had to have it! I love the 70’s vibe it puts off & it’s so girly with the polka dot tie around the neck.
Thinking it would be great for a shower or even rehearsal dinner you have coming up. I am probably going to take it with me to Napa in a couple months, as it will be perfect for our day when we tour vineyards! The price is a little more than I typically spend, but I figured I could get good use out of it with our different festivities this summer… so it was worth the $90 in my opinion. I am wearing a size 2, but would size up to a 4 if I had to do it over again! It’s a little tight around my booty… which is always my problem. And TopShop usually runs small for me, so I prefer to size up!
Are you in to bold prints like this one? Have a good week!
Hey lady! I hope you had a fabulous weekend. Austin & I were extremely lazy & girlfriend it was so nice! This was the first weekend we had zero plans in seriously months. PTL for lazy weekends with my hubby & Brutus. It was just what I needed, especially after a long couple weeks of work.
I asked you on Insta stories the other day if you wanted to start seeing transitional outfits for spring & most of you voted yes! Therefore, I will start bringing you fashion forward spring items that you can wear now & in a couple months. I don’t know about you, but I am beyond ready for warmer temps & sunshine. There always comes a point in mid January where I am over winter & start feeling like I don’t know how to dress. Do you agree? I just hate the feeling of being ready for warmer weather, but not being able to dress for it.
I stopped by H&M the other day for a little retail therapy, & I came across this precious blouse. If you have been reading my blog for a while, you know I love fringe + florals. With that said, this top is the best of both worlds in my book 🙂 It is extremely light weight so it’s great as that go to transitional piece! I am wearing size US 4, but probably could have sized up to a 6 for a baggier fit. I paired it with some high waisted jeans & open toe heels. Perfect for a day on the patio with your girlfriends or loved one!
Is it just me or are you ready for spring, too?
